I came of age when Roe v Wade, "Our Bodies, Ourselves", Planned Parenthood, Ms. Magazine and the possibility of an Equal Rights Amendment were giving our cohort of Feminist Action real hope that we were making lasting progress for Women's Rights. Forty five years later, here we are again, standing up and speaking out to retain a semblance of protection for healthcare, respect and our right to be self-determining.
I've lived on Orcas for almost three decades and have been a convener of women's groups and an advocate for women's rights. OWC is an opportunity to continue this good work, for women living on our island, in San Juan County, and across our Nation.
As a mother of two daughters, a son, and grandmother to four beautiful, strong and creative granddaughters, I continue my activism by building community and leadership in service to freedom for all.
