Doorbelling for Debra Lekanoff

OWC PACE is taking our show on the road and WE NEED YOU, our friends and allies, to help get our first ever First Nations woman from the 40th LD into the Washington State House of Representatives!  We will walk on the 8:50am ferry and come home on the 3:50pm.

In the whole history of the state there have been only two Native American women elected to our state legislature. So, that is big by itself, but if you've met Debra, you know the depth of experience and profoundly effective leadership style she brings to the table. She figures out how to feed grassroots problem-solving with "green"$$ manure instead of the usual kind.

Debra's best known work is her environmental activism around coal transport, salmon safety, shipping traffic and oil pipelines, putting in personal effort and organizing the tribes. In addition she has her spent her life looking after the needs of her community. She served as Chair for the Alaska Native Village where she was born and has worked as the Government Affairs Director for Swinomish (SWIN-ohmish) for many years. She understands the challenges of rural housing, health care, education, land use and water quality. She understands that our seniors and veterans have earned the right to be treated with respect and consideration for their needs, and she knows to ask them what solutions really work for our local situation.

Kris Lytton believes in Debra so much she is willing to have us over to her place for coffee and training on July 14th, then send us off to take Anacortes by storm for three awesome hours of meeting our mainland neighbors and telling them why we came all the way across the water for this woman!

Please use the link below to SIGN UP so Kris knows how many snacks and how much coffee to prepare:
