Signature Gathering Training

  • Emmanuel Episcopal Parrish Hall (map)

We have a VERY exciting initiative to work on!

It's called I-631, the Protect Washington Act.

The purpose is to protect our air and water and to invest in renewable energy, healthy forests and sustainable agriculture in Washington State. Signature gathering begins on April 7th and continues for 120 days.

Sharon Abreu will be conducting two Signature Gatherer Training on Orcas this month. They will be on Tuesday, March 27th AND Wednesday, March 28th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Emmanuel Parish Hall in Eastsound.

This from Sharon, "I've been working on this with the Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy(AJCE), a statewide coalition of over 180 environmental, labor, community and faith groups. This is a very complete and well-thought-out proposal, that takes many factors into account in a way I think is most responsible and has the most potential to be really effective. We'll have 12 weeks beginning April 7 to gather signatures for the ballot initiative. The goal is 260,000 signatures statewide. I'm excited to see how many signatures we can gather in the San Juans!"

This training will be very valuable for any of the progressive initiatives on the ballot this fall. I hope you will join us.
